As I mentioned yesterday, I went with a mustard, grey, and navy theme for our 2013 fall family photo shoot.
I found a great pair of mustard skinnies for Peachy at Target. It appears that they are no longer selling them online, but you might be able to find them at stores yet. I paired them with a navy cardigan from Carters.
Under which I put a grey raglan sleeve shirt with sequins at the neck, also from Carters.
I also got out a pair of Keen sneakers that I had been saving for her. I don't remember where I ordered them from, but I got a really good deal when I did and I ordered a size up.
For Cream, I started with this graphic tee from Carters.
That I topped with this great cardigan with heart elbow patches! Love it!
I got her a pair of skinnies to wear as well. And she looked so cute in them.
She has been wearing her Keens for a while now, but I also love them.
I made both of the girls felt bow barrettes similar to this one on Etsy.
I wore my Old Navy skinny maternity jeans again. These are my go to pair of pants so far this pregnancy.
I wore a non-maternity Ann Taylor Loft stripe tank that is discontinued. But here is a similar one form Old Navy.
And once again the mustard cardigan made an appearance.
The infinity scarf is of my own making. I will try to do a post on it one of these days. And the boots are Old Navy.
And Mr. Cherry's outfit is from his dresser. :o)

Fall Family Pictures: 2013
A few weekends ago we had our annual family pictures taken. I love having pictures of the entire family and I have found that fall is a good time to do it.
Both girls have had their birthdays, the scenery is always beautiful around here, and then I have pictures for our Christmas cards (which I already ordered!!!)
We were supposed to go out on a Saturday morning, but following the trend as of late, it was cold, damp and gloomy. No go for pictures. Since my friend was taking the pictures, we were able to reschedule for Sunday evening.
Unfortunately, I was only able to meet her at 6. Not the best time of day for fall pictures, but she worked it. Also, let me say here, taking pictures of kids is no small feat. Getting both of the girls to look at the camera at the same time with decent smiles took lots of work.
It may have even taken our photographer balancing a mini pumpkin on her head, jumping in the air, and telling us about the animal in her camera lens. Yeah, family photographers need to be in good shape and high spirits.
Tomorrow I will do a run down of the outfits I put together. I love planning picture outfits. I have found that the key is to go with a color palate rather than all one color.
This year I went with grey, mustard yellow, and navy. I also threw in a splash of orange with my scarf.
You can see my post about our 2012 pictures here.
And if you are a local reader and are looking for a photographer, please let me know. I would be happy to share Tina's information with you.

Around Here
I was just looking through pictures on the camera and found too many good ones not to share. So pardon the bit of a photo dump, I couldn't help myself.
One day Peachy decided to style Cream's hair, with the spray bottle we use to clean the floor. Thank goodness I clean with vinegar and water! |
In an odd combination of events, the girls decided that Mr. Cherry should take them out one night after supper. |
Peachy wanted help with her rollerblading. |
And Cream wanted to test out our new-to-us carrier. They all enjoyed themselves and I went for a walk. We will just call him Super Dad! |
Cream was happy with the change of events and wishes it took place more often. |
The girls and I headed to a harvest event at a very old farm property outside of town this past weekend. The bluegrass band asked if the girls wanted to join in on the rhythm section. |
We also got to examine some pretty cool pumpkin and squash varieties. |

Exciting News at Bowl of Cherrys
I am so excited to be able to share with you all our exciting news!! We are expecting baby number three!! The newest member of the Bowl of Cherrys gang is due on February 17th. We found out in the beginning of June, very early. It has been a long few months of secret keeping, but we have now been able to tell our families and close friends.
We drove to see my family in the beginning of the month and this is how we told them. As they all came out to see us, these stickers were on the van. They got the message right away and were very excited.
I have been feeling okay. Just really tired with a side of nausea. I can start to feel the restorative powers of the second trimester, however. It feels good to be back to doing more than what is necessary as a stay at home mom.
We told the girls and it was clear that they didn't really get it. Then, Peachy said to me one day, "Why do you keep talking about babies?" I told her, "There really is a baby in my tummy." She asked how I knew and I told her the doctor had told me. "How did you remember?" she wanted to know. I told her it is kind of important. And ever since she has just seemed to accept it.
I was also able to take both girls to my last prenatal appointment where they were both able to hear the heartbeat. Cream likes to say that the baby is "Mines!" She loves babies. She will often point them out while we are out and about and talks about them when she hears them cry. "Baby cryin', momma?"
So in just 6 months we will, God willing, be a family of 5. And we will get to know the newest member of this crazy bunch.

Time at Home
This past weekend, the girls and I were able to drive to my hometown and enjoy some time with my parents. My father has been teaching for 40 years in our church body's school system and the college that he currently teaches at had a service of thanksgiving for his years of ministry along with two of his colleagues. It was a wonderful weekend filled with family, fun, and beautiful weather.
I forgot my camera (doh!) but took a few on my dad's and on my phone.
One of the highlights of the weekend was for the girls to attend a children's theater performance at the college my father teaches at which happens to be my alma mater. I was very excited to be able to take the girls since I was quite involved in children's theater throughout all four of my college years.
Here is a picture of my mom and Peachy before the show started. I was a little leery of bringing both girls since the performance didn't start until 7:30, but they both did really well and loved the show. I was amazed at how much Cream got out of the play. Peachy was enthralled and after the performance has spent many hours pouring over the program and a news paper article about the play. (I am almost ashamed to admit that I was a bit choked up before the show with excitement for the girls. Oh what motherhood will do to a person!)
Another highlight for all of us was that spring had officially sprung. I rang it in by getting my first sunburn of the season and the girls enjoyed being outside. Specifically playing in grandpa's yet unplanted flower and garden beds. That made for some dirty, but totally happy girls.
Sunday was the day for the anniversary. An aunt, uncle, and cousin joined us for lunch and then there was a knock at the door and there were my dad's brother and wife and sister and husband. They had driven over as a surprise and they sure surprised us. Another set of surprise visitors greeted my parents at the anniversary. A couple had made the trip from my father's first school he taught at. What a great blast from the past for me.
And to top off the great weekend, my father's college declared Monday to be their arbor day and he got to stay home from his classes and enjoy a bit more time with us before we drove home that afternoon.
It was a truly blessed weekend. When it was time to go, Cream was clapping and Peachy was crying.

Fun Fall Family Photos
Here are a few of the pictures from our fall family photo shoot. This is the very shoot where I lost my engagement ring. Since the pictures turned out awesome, I will say that they were worth temporarily misplacing my ring. Good thing! :)
And there are even more! Can you believe it!!?? If you are local, let me know and I can totally hook you up with Nina and her awesome photography skills!
Oh, and my plan to look through the pictures and locate the ring would have worked. You could easily tell I lost it while we were playing in the leaves.

Fall Fun
I have family pictures scheduled for the end of next week, but the nice weather today and the predicted change in the weather had me out capturing a few shots of the girls on my own today. I am not ready to quit my day job, but we had fun and the results aren't bad. I used PicMonkey to edit in the end. It was the middle of the day, so they turned out really bright, even in the shade. I love PicMonkey. It is easy to use and best of all, free! I even have Photoshop, but have never really gotten around to figuring it out. Lets call PicMonkey photo editing for dummies.
Anyway, back to the photos.
