Momma, Look What I Can Do!

Our little lady has been on a mission lately. It is like she has a deadline set for herself to be able to crawl, stand, walk, in general, move!

She has been making progress in the crawling department with her army crawl. It is usually driven by trying to find me or Peachy.
Yesterday she checked stand off of her list along with cruising along the clothes baskets.

Tutorial Tuesday: Living with Punks Floor Poufs

I am usually slow to jump on band wagons. The entire floor cushion/pillow/pouf trend was no exception. Since they have been around for a couple of years now, it was time for me to make the leap. I decided to make one for each of the girls for the living room. I figured they could take the place of the chair that I made for Peachy.

(Don't worry. This chair has been relocated to the downstairs.) This way I didn't have to make another chair for Cream or figure out where to keep it with our limited floor space.
When the poufs aren't in use, they are easy to tuck away in the toy area.

I had seen the Living with Punks tutorial floating around on the web and after looking at it, I decided that it would be the one.

It is a great tutorial and they are really quick and easy to whip up. I used decor weight fabric from JoAnn Fabrics and ended up stuffing them with the insides of some cheapo IKEA pillows I had bought a while back. I think that I overstuffed mine, so I might be opening them and removing some of the fluff or I might just let it settle.

Since I was making two, I used two fabrics on both of the poufs. So far Peachy is a big fan. Cream isn't quite able to use them yet, but I am sure she will be enjoying them soon.

Foodie Friday: Summer S'more Bars

Summer is upon us. (Well at least summer-like weather even if we have a few weeks to wait until its official start.) With summer seems to come an abundance in yummy summer food and recipes. Ice cream treats, cool cocktails, grilling recipes, and s'more recipes. Have you seen a few out there? I am a sucker for anything s'more. Just take a peek into my Pinterest recipes if you don't believe me. Earlier this week I wanted to bring a treat to a friend's house and found this s'more bar recipe. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. While I probably have about 39 more s'more recipes from Pinterest to try, I am ready to declare these a winner and call it a day.
Head on over to Baked Perfection for the recipe!

Washi Tape #3

Here I am, jumping on the washi tape project band wagon. It seems that every crafting blog has some sort of washi project on it lately. Do you know why? Washi tape projects are easy peasy! What is easier than sticking some tape onto something? And washi tape projects are cute!! I have a ton of fun ones pinned to my crafting board. Another big reason for the multitude of recent washi projects is that it is finally easy to find. I used to have my sister who lives in Japan send it to me. Then I could find it at certain craft stores and websites. Now it seems to be every where. Hello, Target!!
I decided to whip up this cute number three for Peachy's birthday. On her birthday week we displayed it on the front door in a wreath. I have been intending to get a picture of her with it, but that hasn't happened yet. I think I might try to make a collection of numbers 1-10 to put up in the girls' play area and add it to that.

I started with a plain wooden shape. I got this one at Michaels. (Want to know a secret? It is really the letter E! I couldn't find number shapes when I was there, so I grabbed the E and turned it around to make a 3.) Then I wrapped pieces of tape around the wood. Easy as 1, 2, 3! I am linking to these wonderful parties this week.

Baby Cream: 9 Months Old

My little Cream is a growing, growing girl. This past week she turned 9 months old! It is fun to remember where I was last summer awaiting her arrival and now she is just a natural part of our little family.
Cream, or Goose, as we like to call her, is still immobile for the most part. She can spin in a 360 on her tummy on the floor and has learned to launch herself onto people, mainly me. I can tell that she is trying to figure out how to move, but when she is on the floor and sees me watching she quickly gives up and just sits there hollering for me. She uses her upper body to pull herself up and will stand next to something for a little time before crashing. It is almost like she thinks she should skip over crawling and go right to walking. Just wait until she figures out how fast she can move around on all fours. Although she cannot propel herself, she is not very content at being put in anything anymore. She even gets mad at me when I put her in her car seat.
She has also taken to shouting. She will be sitting on the floor or in her high chair and yell very loudly. It is usually a bid for someone's attention. It amuses me greatly to hear how loudly that little person can yell. She has also started to say "ba." She will sit there and say it over and over in lots of different ways.
Our sleep training paid off and she rarely needs us to go down stairs during the night. With sleeping through the night comes early morning wake ups, but I will take that over interrupted night sleep. Mr. Cherry thinks that she has figured out that if she gets up early she gets some alone time with just momma.
She is a proficient spiter and we are trying to work on not spiting at the diner table. She is learning all kinds of new tricks like clapping and waving.
This is such a fun age as you watch them learn new things almost daily. Cream sits there checking out her world and just trying to figure it all out.
We had her in for her 9 month check-up and all is looking good. Even her clogged tear duct has cleared up over the past month. (A relief for this momma for sure.)
She now measures:
height: 27.5 inches (49%)
weight: 19 lbs 7 oz (61%)
head: 17.9 inches (88%)
