Baby Cream: 2 Months

A little over two months ago we welcomed our second little girl into the family. Cream is fitting in more and more everyday. Peachy is adjusting to being the big sister and I am adjusting to being the mother of two. Sometimes I forget just how much Cream has changed over the past few months, and even weeks. She has gone from a newborn who really didn't do much to a baby who will smile, talk, and kick when we talk to her. Her little eyes have gone from being  shut most of the day to having alert times where she is taking everything in. And her evening crying sessions are on the downswing.
Cream is still doing a great job with her nighttime sleep. There have been nights where she has logged 10 hours of sleep. She will also allow us to put her down while she is still awake and will fall asleep on her own. I totally credit the swaddle and the pacifier for this. Naps still come and go throughout the day. Some days she seems to sleep the entire day away and then there are others where she only catches catnaps here and there.

Lately she has been loving her bouncy seat and also the mirror on her swing. She will sit in her swing and talk and talk to that baby in the mirror. She also loves the changing area on the Pack and Play. She sits there and looks up at the closet shelf and smiles. I would love to be on her level and see what it is that she finds so interesting.

We had her in for her 2 month well baby visit last week and found out that she is 23 inches long (71%), 12 pounds and 6 ounces (83%),  and has a head circumference of 15.7 inches (78%). She is just behind where Peachy was at this age. While I had no doubt, it is good to know that we have a thriving healthy little girl on our hands.

A Wonderful Friend

Wonder what can put a smile like this on my daughter's face?

Is it staring into her mother's eyes? Is it welcoming her father home from a long day at work? Is it her favorite stuffed animal?
No to all of the above.
Rather, it is ceiling fans.
Little Peachy developed a penchant for ceiling fans early in her life. Her first ceiling fan friend was found in our living room. (And to think I almost vetoed putting one in there.) She quickly added the ceiling fan in our bedroom to her social acquaintances.
In our travels, she was able to make many new friends wherever we journeyed.
In fact, at 4:30 this morning (she has forgotten that she knows how to sleep through the night), she cracked an ear-to-ear grin as she stared up at the ceiling fan while being re-swaddled. I had the hardest time not laughing and smiling along with her. (Night time sleep rule #1: No interacting with the baby in the middle of the night if you want them to go back to sleep quickly and quietly. Man, that is hard sometimes.)
Ah, the simple pleasures in life.
