Little Man Tie Tee Shirts
Have you ever seen the Blume line of products for kids? So many fun ideas! A friend recently sent me a request to make her adorable little boys some Blume inspired Little Man Tie Shirts since she couldn't find matching shirts in the correct sizes. She wants to use them for their family's Christmas pictures. Isn't that going to be awesome?
I started by purchasing plain red shirts. I found mine at Target. Then I took a man's tie and cut it down to make a tie for each shirt. I wish I could tell you how I ended up making the tie, but it was really by trial and error. After stitching the ties up, I decided to connect them to the shirts with velcro. That way they can be removed for washing.
I can't wait to see your little men in their tie shirts, Jenny!

Appliqued Tee Shirts
I recently received an order for a few decorated baby onesies. As long as I was making a few, I figured I may as well make a few more. :) I really had fun coming up with the designs and creating the shirts. I think it really had to do with the fact that I was in a creative happy place. I didn't have to follow a pattern or read directions. It was just me, making. That makes me happy!
I got all of my designs through the Silhouette online store. I do cut my fabric using my Silhouette machine with a Heat N Bond Lite backing. After ironing the pieces onto the tops I stitch around them to add detail and add durability.

Number Shirts
A friend of mine who is expecting her fourth child asked if I would be willing to make number shirts for all of them when the baby is born. I loved the idea! And love how the shirts turned out! I decided to make the numbers inside of circles for something a little different.
I used my Silhouette to cut out the fabric with Heat N Bond Lite on the back.
After the numbers were cut, I ironed them onto the shirts.
Then I stitched around the circle and each of the numbers.
I think I may have to do this same project for when our little one comes!

Boden Inspired: Felt Circle Shirt
A while back, my friend had given me some pages from a Boden catalog of their felt embellished shirts as some inspiration. Of course they were seasonal and I can no longer link to the actual shirts, but here is one from Ebay.
When that friend's daughters birthday rolled around, I knew just what to make for her. I decided to go with felt circles and a found a great stripped shirt at Target.
I layered mustard and grey wool blend felt and sewed a simple navy line through each one. I love how it turned out and may need to make one for myself.

Valentine's Love Shirts
This week is quickly turning into Valentine's Week here at Bowl of Cherrys.
I am just wishing that I had more time to make all of the cute ideas I see and want to make. Here are some pictures of the shirts that I appliqued on for the girls for Valentine's last year.
The good news is that Peachy's still fits her and I already made a new one for Cream. I used my normal Heat and Bond technique for shirt decorating. I like the additional heart that I added to the back.
Also notice that Peachy's is in capitol letters and Cream's is in lower case. Fun.

Mitten Shirt
I can't say where I originally got the idea for this shirt. I want to say that I saw it last year at Gap, but after searching, I couldn't find it there anymore. I know that I have seen it a few places since then and each time I saw it, I was reminded of how cute and simple the idea was. I ended up whipping this up for the Little Peachster before our playgroup Christmas party. I really like that even though Christmas is over, she can still wear it all winter. I am always kind of bummed when I make a season specific shirt and then when that holiday is over I have to put it away. You know a turkey shirt in April just looks odd.
I purchased the shirt from Wal-Mart. I have had relatively good luck finding plain shirts in the Granimal department for very reasonable prices. I found a mitten outline through Google images and traced it onto the Heat and Bond Lite that I would iron on to the stripped fabric for the mittens. After cutting out the mittens, I placed 1/8 inch red ribbon at the top of one mitten on the shirt. I sewed around the mitten and then continued on to the ribbon up and around the back of the neck. I ended the ribbon where the other mitten would be placed and sewed around it as well. Fairly easy for such a cute outcome!

Christmas Shirt
This shirt was recently created for as a custom order. I just love how it turned out and can't wait to get it to the momma on Friday.
I used the same reverse appliqué technique as in my Fall Pear Shirt. Just search for a Rudolph silhouette in place of the pear. The reindeer fabric is a brown corduroy, so cute!! After stitching around the reindeer, I attached a little red button on his nose.
