Spring Purse

It's that time of year. You know, when you feel that everything that you wear must scream spring. Oh, that only happens to me? Well then, just ignore the first two sentences and carry on.
I purchased this pattern along with several others at a recent pattern sale at JoAnn Fabrics. (That is the only way to affordably purchase patterns these days.) It is from Simplicity #2617. I used a gift card that I had gotten for Christmas (thanks mom!!) to purchase the fabric at a local quilting store.
I decided to add the zip to the top. I don't know about you, but I like to keep the contents of my purse in my purse.
While the pattern did come with one pocket on the inside, I need more!! So, I added two large pockets to the opposite side.

This was a fairly easy pattern to follow. However, I did find the fabric yardage to be a bit much. They also had some funky layouts for the cutting that I decided to tweak.
When I was done, I wasn't totally sure about the fabrics I had chosen. I didn't want it to look too cutsey or grandma-y. (No offense, Nana.) However, it has grown on me. I kind of think it is a Vera Bradley knock-off.

LOVE the color combo and the style. Totally cute!

I need to learn to sew a zipper. Never done it. I'm skeered.

I love your bag. I really do not sew very much but I want to learn and I have some great fabric laying here for that reason. Very impressive.

Oh, it turned out really great--the colors are very "spring."

I appreciate the short pattern review. As a new sewer, I've run into a few not-so-newbie friendly patterns already and it's always nice to have some idea before you buy.

Stopping by from Creative Juices link up!
